Banff Mountain Film Festival

For the fourth year in a row, Ditty and I have gone to the Banff Mountain Film Festival. Ok, we didn’t go to the actual festival up in Banff, Canada (held every year in October/November), but we did go to one of their world tour sites at a local college, sponsored by Philadelphia Rock Gym.

The films are anywhere from a few minutes long up to around 45 minutes, so the tour will show 7-10 films each night, and a different set on Friday vs. Saturday. No matter the length, they all have the common theme of celebrating the outdoors and the cultures and people that thrive in those environments. They can range anywhere from a short 5 minute display of bike acrobatics to a 45 minute documentary on two crazy friends trying to walk to the South Pole and back. (see below for clips from both films. I believe the first one is the full film)

If you are into the outdoors or adventure or travel or just seeing people do CRAZY things, then you’ll want to check out the Banff world tour. It’s especially fun when there’s a thousand other people around you cheering and reacting to the films with you. Much different than watching them on Youtube at home. I do think the Saturday films are better than Friday, but both nights are worth going to. Click the banner below for more info.

I also want to shout out Kicking Horse Coffee. Every year they have advertised their goods and every year I say I’m going to try their fair trade coffee. Well, finally this year they gave out samples and I got to try some. Their flagship roast “Kick Ass” speaks for itself. I managed to find it on Amazon and put it in my A-store here if you want to check it out. (I have no affiliation with them, I just think it’s good stuff…plus their marketing is pretty sweet)
